5-Week Guide To Celebrate Christ Using the Advent Wreath

Going through the Advent wreath is a wonderful way of keeping Christ at the center of the family amidst all the busyness of the Christmas season. Each Sunday evening, perhaps after the family dinner — invite everyone to take time to sit together around the wreath.

Here are the basics to get you started! Follow these easy steps:

  1. Introduce the candle for the week. Tell how the whole activity will go.

  2. Read the Bible passage/s. One person can read all or each one reads a verse. Before reading, ask everyone to get ready to tell the Scripture back.

  3. Retell and reflect. Once everyone has taken a turn to retell, ask, “What do you think about it?” “What does this mean to you?

  4. Light the candle/s. Praise God for how He has shown Himself to your family through your time together. Take the time to pray for one another, too.

As you blow off the candles, you’ll see how family bonding time can take different sweet turns — from cups of hot cocoa, read-aloud, cookies to movies, knowing that Christ has come to bring us to Himself and to one another.
